What would become of my life if I continued to build protective barriers around me in order to block any hurt from entering? How hardened would my heart become? How distant would I become from Him? From my relationships?

Vulnerability is tough. But God's strength and His peace and His whispers can break through the layers of bricks surrounding.

Times like this, I realize that perspective changes everything.

Lord, help me to have St. Francis' perspective:

O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace!
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, harmony.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sorrow, joy.

Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

That dude is mushitsu~

Question of the Day: Why do YOU pray?

For some reason, it hit me more strongly than ever today: I have a strong fear of rejection.

Friday, September 08, 2006

As I have been praying for humility before the Lord, He has been faithfully answering (as He is known to do) by opening my eyes to see my unworthiness: my unworthiness to have such good friends (like Grace, who persistently takes the initiative to call me and ask how I'm doing and who never-endingly encourages me with her God-given words and Arlyn, who listens patiently to my problems and sympathizes with my rollercoaster emotions); my unworthiness to have such a wonderful family (my mother who uses her morning's fill of strength to wake up her sleepmonster of a daughter); my unworthiness to have such an amazing fellowship of brothers and sisters (who write me letters of spirit-reviving encouragement); but most importantly to have such an amazing God pouring out His abundant grace to a stinky sinner like me. I don't understand. I  really don't understand, but may this year be one in which I stop asking and proceed on giving. And people: if you see my selfish nature surfacing again, please be sure to remind me who I am--UNWORTHY.

"Unworthy Shim" <-- it has nice ring to it, don't you think? hehe.

From www.jhopsd.com:

Welcome to Justice House Of Prayer San Diego!

Welcome to Justice House Of Prayer San Diego, where our heart resonates with Luke 18, and we carry the mandate given by Paul in 1 Timothy 2

"I urge then, FIRST OF ALL, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for KINGS and ALL THOSE IN AUTHORITY, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them why they should ALWAYS PRAY and not give up... And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly." Luke 18:1, 7-8

Join JHOPSD as we establish a 24/7 justice cry in San Diego!

Where: 433 G St., San Diego, CA. 92101

We are meeting in the Old City Hall building across from Urban Outfitters on the corner of Fifth and G St. The easiest place to park would be in Horton Plaza. The first two hours of parking are free with validation at the Plaza, which can be done through the purchase of a water, etc. Once you are at the entrance to the Old City Hall building take the elevator to the fourth floor. Exit right out of the elevator, go through the hallway door, and JHOP San Diego will be in room 423, the last door on the left.

Join J.H.O.P San Diego as we launch into our new season!

Tuesday from 6-8 PM
Thursday from 6-8PM
Continuing every week there after at the same time

Boy! Does it feel good to be back in my second home (SD). Can't wait to see my church babies...I wonder how much they've grown in the past 5 weeks.

Reminder to self:

God has been muy displeased with me for not having held onto His Word faithfully. Therefore, He has spoken through His people: through J.S., through Mao(a.k.a. Kim Dong Whan MSN. hehe); and through His Word: "Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful" (Joshua 1:8)--that my fire and urgency for the Word may be rekindled. Thanks God for Your reminders!

P.S. I'm trying to memorize the book of John. Please keep me accountable.
